BACKGROUND
Speidel Construction, Inc. specializes in the application of pavement markings, surface preparation prior to the application of pavement markings, and the removal of obsolete markings and rubber removal from airfield pavements. High pressure waterblasting proves to be effective in removing rubber deposits from either asphalt or concrete runway surfaces, as well as removing paint without polishing or damaging the surface.

OUR COMPANY
Speidel Construction, Inc. is a small, woman-owned business based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We specialize in cleaning and painting airfields. The company has been working on airfields since 1989 and prides itself on the quality of work that we do. (Copies of performance evaluations from our many satisfied customers available upon request). Although based in Virginia, our crews travel great distances to service our clients. (See "Experience" on our main page). We are currently working on a project at Andersen AFB in Guam! As our brochure states (copy available upon request), "No job too small . . . no distance too far".

We remove rubber deposits that build up on runways from the landing/take-off of turbojet aircraft. Rubber contamination on the runway will reduce the friction coefficient of the pavement surface, a potential problem, particularly when the pavement is wet.

We remove obsolete paint markings from the pavement, as well as removing heavily built-up or loose or flaking paint prior to applying new markings. The waterblasting equipment used for this process recovers all water and debris while the removal progresses, leaving the surface clean immediately!

We paint airfield markings, using high quality federal specification materials, generally latex paints with glass beads applied simultaneously in the striping operation. We remain current with the latest FAA and military specifications for marking layout and application requirements.

The bottom "line" (pun intended): We won't leave the job until the customer is satisfied . . . whatever it takes!

Donna Speidel, the majority owner of the Company, has developed presentations that she has made to various groups from the airport industry about airport rubber removal and airfield markings. She can be contacted via email donna@cleanrunways.com or by calling the office at 888-599-8031; and would be willing to speak to any group or meeting who is interested in learning more about this very specialized industry.
